Places I've been (part 3)....

St. Martin-in-the-Fields (London, England)

Walking through the streets of London with my husband, on a pleasant fall day. We are on our honeymoon and everyday we would get up and just go explore London, walking all day long. It was such a lovely experience.

One day, it starts to rain lightly and it is near noon time, we see an entrance to a cafe and decide to go in. It was one of *those* days that will stay with me forever. We had gone down to the cafe in St. Martins-in-the-fields. The cafe is located in the crypt of the church and we spent the rest of the day looking at all the names on the crypt stones and talking, musing, wondering about these people. These people who lie beneath the feet of people going about their daily affairs. Popping in for a quick coffee and a pastry....or popping in for a soup and sandwhich. Coming from Canada, this was completely surreal to us.
..and poignant.

Life above, and death beneath.
