Pictures that carry meaning for me

Tea

I need to post an ode to tea right now...*sip*.
I've always liked tea.
I like coffee too, but apparently i add too much to my coffee to be considered a true coffee drinker (8 sugars and a half pint of milk lol). Technically, it seems i only like coffee flavored candy milk.

Tea. Ok...i add stuff to tea too...alot of milk and 2 spoons of sugar...but its acceptable lol.

I have discovered the...how can i even encapsulate it into words....the heavenly experience of loose leaf tea. I have spent a small fortune in the past 6 mos at a very expensive tea store on loose leaf teas.
Ooooh. Myyy.
I cant get enough...and I'm like an alchemist in my kitchen mixing delightful concoctions with my variations of loose leaf teas. Between all the assam's and ceylon's and rooibos and oolongs...its a plethora of rich scents and subtle tastes that sends me to the moon lol.
I just had to get that out there. *sip*

A bit 'o me....

I thought I would post a random bit about my "slant" on life, the universe and everything...
Im not a christian.
Im not anything....my beliefs are best classified as pagan or heathen...but im not a wiccan either. I have chosen to believe in God....just not a christian (or any other nameable) god.

Having said that, religion is a favorite topic of mine to discuss and i find christians very interesting. So interesting in fact that i attend a christian bible church group every tuesday night and have been doing so for the last 2 years.....*cough*..religiously lol. They joke that im the most devote heathen that theyve ever met lol. I love going...love discussing bible stuff...etc.
Odd i know. Wish i could find a muslim group that would welcome me.
My most favorite stuff to talk about pertains generally to humans: encompasing all social, perceptual, psychological, physiological aspects of humans. "What the bleep" was an excellent reflection of many ideas i have had for years but am not eloquent enough to express. If i had a business card representing the essence of me, it would be that movie lol.

Im very lazy about punctuation and capitals in my writing.

When im not busy flittering about in insane thoughts.....im a mommy to two small children (6 and 4) and i work part time as an audiologist. I love black tea. Oh. And im Canadian....vive le maple leaf lol.

Woman's tool set

I can soooooo relate to this...many a shoe I have ruined lol

Boredom

Boredom. I think its a learned..whats the word im looking
for...talent? To be constructively bored? Ability?

I was talking to a mom the other day...and she gave me the oft heard
story of her nephew/friend/neighbours kid/*insert kid here*....where
the kid is a trouble maker in school, or a bad student or what have
you because they were "bored". Youve heard it right? In this case,
the mom got a call because her 9 yr old son didnt bother to finish a
test. He just sat there and didnt bother doing it. His answer?...it
was too easy and he was bored. Apparently he is a star when it comes
to math...but he is bored in his class and does diddly.
Ok.
I get that.
Fine.
The mom regaling this story to me seemed to think that i would cluck
my tongue and reply with some sort of commiseration in support of this
kids boredom....naturally, since my perspective is twisted i didnt lol.
Personally...i think that excuse is a crock of shit and parents in
general are doing their kids a great diservice. You all knew i would
say that didnt you lol. Seriously though....many kids these days fill
their time with ridiculous schedules of sporting events, clubs,
activities etc..which isnt bad in itself, but the overscheduling to me
is not good. IN addition, to go back to my other tirade on visual
media like tv and video games...kids are innundated with high action
stimulus constantly. Parents feel the pressure to entertain their
children when they are young, and continue to do so when they are
older. Kids dont know how to play alone anymore. Kids dont know how
to be bored. How many times have you heard the excuse of "boredom"
for delinquent behaviour? Its chronic. Back in "the day" (i sound a
million years old lol) kids were just bored and they were expected to
figure out what to do with their time without getting into major
trouble. Without car jacking, or robbing convenience stores, or
beating on some lesser kid, or what have you. Kids need to leard to
be bored constructively.
To continue my tirade here...all we are breeding are adults who dont
know how to be bored. I dont know about you, but my life isnt all
kicks and whistles....i get plenty bored at work. I get plenty bored
waiting at a doctors office, or waiting in traffic, or god knows doing
whatever mundane thing you have to do in life. Boredom is a part of
life. So this whole "im bored" thing in school to me....is crap.
IMO, if you are bored in school....then figure out how not to be. Do
what is required of you, since you would have to do that at a job
anyway....and ask for crap to do so that you arent bored.

Lets face it, being bored is a learned....whats the word im looking
for?? Art? Talent? Behaviour? Ability?

I think im done.

Random Quote:

The fundamental goal of art is not to copy nature, but to heighten our awareness of it.

Petty spats lead to more slayings

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/11865866/

I really think things are so different now in our culture. For one thing, there is waaaaay too much of random violent crap in video games and movies and television. And i *really* *really* do think that it desensitizes the public to violence in general. I saw a
great quote recently: " Evil is the absence of empathy"....never has
that been truer imo. Forget accessability to handguns...the whole gun thing has been glamorized imo. Plus, videogames/movies etc have
twisted it so that the viewer tends to identify with the violent
attacker rather than the victims. The victims are loosers or just
"non" people....not even worth consideration, whereas the attacker is the focus of the emotions. Even when considering the 6 o'clock news, we dont care what the victims thought....we want to know what the assailant thought....*WHY* did they do what they did? Who cares what terror the victim must have felt when it happened...that is *never* addressed by the news or news story...its always *why* and *what were they thinking* and *what triggered it*....we want to understand the assailant...which imo lends itself to identifying with them to some degree and turning them into a victim of sorts.
Added to that....if you think about it...my dad for example was
married young..he was 20...tons of people were married at that age and had families. Having a family for most people tempers them....age does it too but there is nothing like a family to sober you up quickly when you are younger...for most imo not all. People defer marriage etc longer. Its not expected for people to get married and "settle down" quickly like they used to do....now people postpone that for a variety of reasons....and imo, that coupled with the job situation in many areas and the whole media thing...throw in accessability to handguns and the glamorization of them, and just to finish it off the crappy diets that most people are on which imo fucks with our body chemistry even more..and what else do you expect. Man...i feel like i could write a freaking book on all the factors....but really...the issue is that society no longer cares about the victims. We are all defined as victims of something or other by society at large and its all about "getting them back".

Pandemics and Birds

There is no doubt in my mind that there will be a pandemic one day
again.....but frankly, when it will happen is imo completely
unpredictable...and if one can prepare globally for it is imo
completely doubtful. Truthfully, we already have pandemics
now....AIDS for one is a real threat to everyone. Yet, people still
act as if its a "gay thing" or somehting that cannot touch them. The fact that there are more people in africa with aids than not should be daily front page news...but its not. Why...because its not profitable at this time to garner that much attention onto it....not for the newspapers nor for the true corporate conglomerates that pull all hte puppet strings of the world. You watch...the day "they" come up with an "AIDS vaccine" will be the day that you will start seeing the insane numbers behind AIDS. Of course, i think that you will start to see the media hype wheels start up and then the vaccine will miraculously emerge mere months later....in supposed response to the public concern. You watch...i know that i come across as completely cynical and paranoid with regards to the whole vax issue...but watch the news...read the news....the paranoia starts and there is a vax or pill treatment with stocks and profit margins right behind it fanning the fires.
There are more things in your life right now that are far far riskier than any bird flu is to you personally right now. Im not being flippant when i say that traffic fatalities are cause for concern.
Globally to date this avian flu has killed almost 100 people...thats
since 2003.....100 since 2003....think about that number for a minute will ya? Approximately 35 per year. The media is hyped about a death rate globally of 35 people per year....think about it. Does that make sense to you?
Who is behind the hype?
Think about it. Think about it. How many traffic fatalities are in north american alone per day?? How many world wide? Do you honestly think that the media in North America is going to start convincing people to stop driving their
petrol greedy SUV's?? No way....fiscially, its profitable for people to drive. Economically, the tamiflu crap recieved insane
profits....which of course "they" say now its ineffective against the avian flu strain thats of real concern. How interesting.
No, you cant "catch" a car accident but so what? Does the modality of transmission of your demise really matter when you consider the real risks?? I say no.
Im very aware of the dangers of driving my car. I take those risks
daily because life is fraught with risk.....im not worried about avian
flu. Not yet.
